Spreading cheer around the city!

Now that we are well into 2021, and the restrictions do not seem to be abating, here is something cheerful to lift your spirits!

A while back, while scrolling through Instagram Reels, I came across a wonderful idea by Jess Sharp (Instagram handle- @jessrachelsharp), and I knew I had to bring the same cheer to Eindhoven! She left little notes of positivity around her city, which passersby could choose to keep, give away to others, or simply leave untouched. This was such a great way to bring an unexpected smile on someone’s face.

So, with permission, I implemented a similar idea right here in Eindhoven. Here comes a funny story! A while back, I had designed and printed these Harry Potter postcards, featuring a hugely popular quote. At the time I was naive, and in spite of being a cautious person, unaware of the potential copyright trouble that I could fall into.

And thus, I was stuck with these postcards that I could not sell, and essentially, a bad business investment. So when I came across the video, I suddenly realized how I could use the postcards to bring some positivity to others, and not waste the effort and love I put into designing them.

So over the weekend, I took advantage of the beautiful sunshine, and went for a cycle ride with the postcards in tow. I left some behind on park benches and inside free street libraries. And I hope to leave behind more around the city soon!
