The Eras Era

So I did a thing… and attended the Eras Tour in Amsterdam!

While not exactly a ‘Swiftie’, I have very fond memories attached to Taylor Swift’s songs! As a teenager I heard Love Story, and I was completely enamoured. Over the years I have followed her journey sporadically, but have always had respect for her for the way she took ownership of her albums and made them her own. We love an independent queen! So when I realised that the Era Tour had an Amsterdam date, there was no way I was going to pass it up!

This was my prep before the concert- I made all these bead bracelets to exchange with the other Swifites at the concert and the cute sunglasses I embellished with some letter beads for the Eras Tour!

There is also, however, no doubt that there are some areas where she could do better. As an immensely popular pop singer, she can do her bit to uphold the environmental regulations better and to inspire others by her actions. Nobody is perfect, and she could definitely champion this cause in a more comprehensive way.

But there is also a lot to learn from the way she has dealt with bullies- whether it’s the recording studios or the infamous Ye upstaging, she has handled PR disasters with a lot of aplomb. She has been a role model for young girls (and sometimes not-so-young women!), and over the course of her Eras Tour, she became almost a phenomenon.

Attending her concert was almost like being in a 3-hour movie! With so many outfit changes and elaborately arranged sets, it seemed like a well-choreographed Bollywood movie. Except it was in real life. For 3 hours. With almost no breaks. I kept wondering how she could manage not to pee for that long…[yikes]

All the different bits I added to the shadow box!

This was a surreal experience, and I am so grateful that I could attend it and make memories of a lifetime! There was an undoubted sense of community, and all the girlies were so happy to be there and exchange bracelets! I had such lovely conversations with so many people from around the country and even from around the world who had come just to attend the concert. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by so much positivity and good vibes.

And of course, as a memorykeeper, I had to design a shadowbox that I could keep in my room as a reminder of the wonderful concert. Here is the final product. If you’re attending a concert/event soon, consider making something similar to keep a part of the day with you forever!

Made this shadowbox with the bead bracelets I exchanged with other Swifties, the sunglasses I embellished and wore to the concert, some photo-booth style pictures I got printed, the concert armband, and some cute decor bits and pieces!
