How to stay in routine during the quarantine
The world is going through a bit of a crisis now. And it can be a very daunting state of affairs. However, rather than worrying about things that are out of our hands, it is a better idea to apply ourselves to things that we can control, and get back a semblance of normalcy. So read on to find out a few tips to stay in routine and be productive during this period of physical distancing!
Wake up at a similar time everyday
This seems very hard to do, but it is going to have a huge positive impact once we get through this! During vacations, our body clocks go haywire and it is very hard to readjust it to our usual schedule. In a similar way, if we wake up each day at a similar time, it will help us keep to our schedule.
Get ready for the day
Whether you have an office job or you work from home, it is important to stick to a routine. And that involves getting ready for the day. Sure, it seems pretty alluring to wear pyjamas in bed all day and push the boundaries on what is deemed to be an acceptable number of days to go without bathing, but don’t fall into that trap! Wear some comfortable clothes, do your hair and make-up if it puts you in a good mood, and start your day with a fresh mind.
Make a to-do list
Making a to-do list in the morning is the perfect way to visually see the tasks you need to accomplish that day. It helps to get an understanding of what needs to be done, and plan the day accordingly. And of course, ticking off the tasks as you go is definitely an added bonus!
Have a workspace
Having a workspace is an essential part of remaining productive. ‘Workspace’ does not mean having a 3-screen setup like some sci-fi movie. Just a simple corner of the house where you can get some peace and quiet and fit in your equipment (whether it’s a laptop or notebooks) will suffice! Working on the bed is a dangerous activity, so make sure that you have at least a bed table to do your tasks on.
Eat healthy and at proper times
It is so easy to fall into the habit of snacking simply out of boredom or stress, or eating more at mealtimes. Follow the routine of meals you usually eat, and avoid mindless snacking. Be more mindful of what you put in your body, and make sure to portion the servings of food items.
Get some activity
One does not need expensive equipment at home to work out. Simply doing the household chores daily is a good way to keep in shape. If there’s a particular part of your house you’ve always wanted to tidy up, this is the perfect time to get to it!
Clear your inbox
Use this time to declutter your inbox and unsubscribe from the things that no longer bring you joy. This is most probably a task which you may have been procrastinating for weeks, but let’s face it, it needs to be done! And this may be the perfect time to bid adieu to the mess that is your inbox.
Wash your hands
Remember to wash your hands before you eat, after returning from a grocery run, after coughing or sneezing, and whenever else you feel necessary. Take good care of yourself and your family members during this crisis.
Remember it’s okay to not be busy
Our primary goal at this point in time should be staying safe and keeping others safe. It is alright not to plan every minute of every day and to take a step back from feeling the need to always be productive. Physical and mental health are of the utmost importance and should be valued now more than ever!
Here’s wishing all of you safety and happiness.
Love and light!
